    Eritrea merupakan negara yang terletak di tanduk Afrika yakni di bahagian timur benua itu. Ia bersempadanan dengan Sudan di sebelah barat, Ethiopia di bahagian selatan dan Djibouti di bahagian tenggara.  Eritrea mendapat kemerdekaan daripada Itali pada November 1941 dan Ethiopia pada 24 Mei 1993. Ibu negaranya adalah Asmara. Ia mempunyai kira-kira 5.2 juta orang penduduk. Ia menggunakan matawang Nakfa (ERN).


    Muka Depan

    Di muka depan wang terdapat gambar tiga orang kanak-kanak perempuan. Di bahagian atas wang terdapat perkataan STATE OF ERITREA iaitu nama rasmi negara Eritrea. Di bahagian bawahnya pula terdapat perkataan ONE NAKFA. Nilai muka wang 1 dicetak di bahagian kanan atas dan kedua-dua bucu kiri wang. Di sebelah kanan atas juga terdapat perkataan 'Legal tender of Eritrea'. Nombor siri wang pula dicetak di bahagian kanan dan kiri wang. Tandatangan terdapat di bahagian kiri bawah.


    Muka Belakang

    Di tengah wang terdapat gambar suasana di sebuah sekolah di Eritrea. Di atas wang pula terdapat perkataan BANK OF ERITREA serta ONE NAKFA di bahagian bawah wang. Nilai muka wang 1 dicetak di setiap bucu wang.
