    Syiling keluaran khas ini merupakan syiling khas memperingati Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon diberi gelaran the Queen Mother iaitu bonda kepada Elizabeth II. Dilahirkan pada 4 Ogos 1900, Ratu Elizabeth merupakan salah seorang kerabat diraja British yang dihormati. Ratu ini merupakan salah seorang wanita yang berpengaruh besar dalam abad ke-20 ini. Baginda berkahwin dengan Putera Albert pada tahun 1923.


    Tanzania terletak di tengah Afrika Timur bersempadanan dengan Kenya dan Uganda di utara, Rwanda, Congo dan Burundi di sebelah barat dan Zambia, Malawi serta Mozambique di sebelah selatan. Ibu negaranya adalah Dodoma. Kerajaannya adalah republik. Ia mendapat kemerdekaan daripada United Kingdom pada 9 Disember 1961. Ia mempunyai kira-kira 44 juta orang penduduk. Ia menggunakan matawang Shilling (TZS).

Di lingkaran luar syiling terdapat perkataan QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER manakala nilai muka 500 SHILLINGS di bawahnya.
