    Ethiopia merupakan negara yang terletak di tanduk Afrika yakni di bahagian timur benua itu. Ia bersempadanan dengan Sudan di sebelah barat, Eritrea di bahagian utara dan Djibouti  dan Somalia di bahagian timur. Sejarah penubuhan Ethiopia adalah sejak tahun 980 Sebelum Masihi lagi. Ibu negaranya adalah Addis Ababa. Ia mempunyai kira-kira 85 juta orang penduduk. Ia menggunakan matawang Birr (ETB).


    Muka Depan

    Di muka depan wang terdapat gambar seorang budak lelaki. Di bahagian kanan wang terdapat gambar sekumpulan kerbau. Manakala kepala singa di bahagian kiri wang. Di atas pula terdapat perkataan National Bank of Ethiopia serta ditulis juga dalam bahasa tradisi Ethiopia. Nilai muka ONE BIRR ditulis di bahagian kiri wang serta kedua-dua bucu atas kanan dan kiri wang dalam bahasa Ethiopia. Nilai muka 1 pula dicetak di bahagian bucu bawah kanan dan kiri wang.


    Muka Belakang

    Di tengah wang terdapat gambar air terjun Tisisat yang menghubungkan Sungai Nil manakala di sebelah kirinya pula terdapat gambar dua ekor burung pemakan lebah yang bertengkek di atas sebatang ranting pokok. Nilai muka 1 dicetak di bucu kanan bawah dan kiri atas wang manakala dicetak juga dalam bahasa Ethiopia di bahagian kanan atas serta kiri bawah wang.
