    Tanzania terletak di tengah Afrika Timur bersempadanan dengan Kenya dan Uganda di utara, Rwanda, Congo dan Burundi di sebelah barat dan Zambia, Malawi serta Mozambique di sebelah selatan. Ibu negaranya adalah Dodoma. Kerajaannya adalah republik. Ia mendapat kemerdekaan daripada United Kingdom pada 9 Disember 1961. Ia mempunyai kira-kira 44 juta orang penduduk. Ia menggunakan matawang Shilling (TZS).


    Muka Depan

    Di sebelah kanan wang terdapat lukisan Julius Nyerere, presiden pertama Tanzania dari tahun 1961 hingga 1985. Nilai muka wang 1000 ditulis di kanan bawah dan kiri atas wang serta perkataan SHILINGI ELFU  MOJA di bawahnya. Di kiri atas pula terdapat perkataan BENKI KUU YA TANZANIA. dan FEDHA HALALI KWA MALIPO YA SHILINGI ELFU MOJA. Manakala di tengah-tengah pula terdapat jata negara Tanzania serta tanda tangan gabenor terletak di bawah nya.

    Muka Belakang

    Di tengah wang terdapat gambar Statehouse yang terletak di Dar Es Salaam serta gambar bunga di depannya. Di belakangnya pula terdapat gambar corak daun. Di atas wang terdapat perkataan BANK OF TANZANIA. Nilai muka wang 1000 berserta ONE THOUSAND SHILLINGS dicetak di bahagian kanan atas dan kiri bawah.
